The Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Anambra State, Dr Joseph Ugboaja told workers at the health facility to be safety conscious as he reaffirms his promise to make NAUTH one of the top five in Nigeria.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Ugboaja noted that it was a trying time for everyone given the current security challenges in the state.
He therefore called on all workers to be more vigilant and more concerned with safety. He assured them that management would do everything in their power to make sure the hospital is safe and secure for workers.
Dr Ugboaja said he was confident that none of the hospital community would fall victim to the season.
“With the competition for the CMD position behind us, I invite all of us to step into the new vision of making NAUTH one of the top five healthcare facilities in the country. It is a task that we must all accomplish together, so that history and posterity will be kind to us. I promise to always provide the necessary leadership to mobilize us enough and inspire us to work to achieve this collective goal of ours.
“As I have always assured you, the well-being and motivation of the staff remains the top priority in our administration and I will leave no effort to ensure that our staff are among the best available in the country with the level required training, motivation, work satisfaction and, ultimately, personal development.
“Our quest for infrastructure development, particularly at the permanent site, remains on track. Road constructions, landscaping, virology laboratory, standard treatment center and various other projects are proceeding satisfactorily. We will soon be moving into our new accident and emergency building as well as the new intensive care and work unit, ”said the CMD.
He appreciated all the staff for the support and encouragement they had received from them thus far and vowed to continue to make them proud by working diligently to realize the dream of having a world class hospital ” where we will all be satisfied with the work environment, patients are satisfied with the quality of the services they receive and stakeholders are also happy to continue to identify and support us.
He said the processes for the hospital conversion exercise had started, that they should rest assured that they would all be satisfied with the outcome. Dr Ugboaja explained that it was his greatest desire and wish to always make workers smile.
“Once again, I want to thank all of you for your sacrifices, efforts and prayers to ensure that NAUTH ranks among the best healthcare facilities in the country.
Many thanks to the Board of Trustees headed by our capable and tireless President, Chief Ezekiel I Afukonyo and the management staff, especially my Deputy, Dr Ezejiofor Ogochukwu for their support in ensuring that the hospital moves to higher level. May God bless us all, protect us and grant our heart’s desires now and always, ”he concluded.
